THE HUMANITY BRAND: Unleash Your Humanity
We live in a time of extraordinary incoherence.
Humanity has never been more technically advanced, more connected, or more capable of resolving challenges if we were to make a genuine effort. Because these challenges were created by us and will need to be resolved by us. It starts within us and moves outward. Because, our inner and outer world are interconnected.
Still, we see deepening divisions, tribalism, fear-driven decision-making, profound inequalities, and brutal conflicts in the daily lives of millions upon millions. This is not the world we want. It is the world we have created. Therefore, we can also change it.
As Leonardo da Vinci said: “Learn to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.” Both personal awakening and collective change start with a longing to evolve and contribute. It is possible to alleviate suffering, stand for justice, bring beauty to the world, and live authentically.
No crisis rests on stand-alone “politics.” Whether we look at leadership, our own lives, or that of others, we are all the products of the choices and decisions we make, ourselves. When we integrate real life with psychology, philosophy, science and spirituality, we see the tapestry of human existence.
While I have seen the very best of humanity, I have also witnessed and challenged our inhumanity. Through these experiences, I realized that the strongest power we possess is not our ranks, titles, or even material possessions. Our greatest strength lies in harnessing our own humanity – under pressure, just as diamonds are made from coal. The power of humanity arises when we meet life with awareness and turn into alchemists - transforming pain into wisdom, adversity into courage, division into unity, and the ugly into beauty.
It is not abstract potential, but an inherent life-force to be nurtured and unleashed. It is determination to refuse to give up. It is moral courage conquering fears. It is leading with purpose for the common good. Most of all, it is the ability to feel and act with empathy. The heart guides us, while the mind provides the strategy.
I have seen how the most oppressed or vulnerable turned their pain and misfortune into inner strength, dignity and conviction. How they rebuilt, how they kept hope for their children and communities, and how they refused to succumb. They turned out to be my greatest teachers in life.
Humanity is not weak. Humanity is powerful.
The words of the ancient Greeks: “Know Thyself,” and Gandhi’s words: “If you want to change the word, start with yourself,” reflect a profound understanding of how we are interconnected. Our lives mirror our inner awareness and energy. The deeper we go, the higher we rise, the greater our service and self-realization.
The world is going through a transition. We live in cycles, to which our history testifies. Dark eras are always followed by some form of collective enlightenment. We are on the cusp of greater understanding and a common will to move towards the power of humanity. And so, we will become active participants rather than passive observers.
This journey is deeply personal and yet collective. The concept of The Humanity Brand and my second book, co-authored with Scott Tavis, Unleash Your Humanity: Where Personal Awakening Becomes Collective Change, was not conceived recently. It is something that has been burning inside me for forty years. I am not alone. It has been stirring inside millions, if not billions, for even longer. Now, the time has come to unleash it.
My blog is about our shared journey, drawing both on the memoir and the manifesto in our book Unleash Your Humanity. Ultimately, this is not about me. It is about all of us. It is about our shared humanity.
Together, we shall get there, or as Alice Walker stated:
“We are the ones we have been waiting for.”
Warmly,

Step by step, our book, Unleash Your Humanity, is coming alive. Currently under proof-reading at the publisher, we are excited to soon see the final product and prepare for its launch in September. It is a book that has been in the waiting since the 1980s. Early in life, I just had this longing and a vision. I had no idea as to how it would come out one day.
At 20, I knew within, yet I stood at the beginning of life. The book would be shaped by the life ahead of me in the coming decades. A life of which I knew nothing. A life I dreamed to live.
Little did I know that the world back then would change so dramatically. As I graduated in 1987 from Stockholm University with a specialization on international law, the world did indeed consider international law to be the path towards global co-existence in a world of peace, justice and security.
We were not naive idealists. We were pragmatic idealists. The rule of law works - or should work - in every democratic society. Therefore, it was also possible to advocate for the rule of law on the international arena. After all, most states have ratified those laws, acknowledging their legal obligations.
And today, the respect for international law is at its lowest point. Both among those committing the breaches and those who consider themselves law-abiding. Our world is dystopian. While we may not feel or see it daily, billions of human beings endure it right now and in this very moment.
The light at the end of the tunnel rests with them. It also calls on all among us who still hold on the imperatives underpinning the the rule of law. We must never ignore the injustice and cruelty brought on by ruthless wars, war-crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.
The moment we give up on humanity, we cross into an utterly dangerous terrain. That means we give up on others - and thus we also give up on ourselves. It means we give up on ‘the golden rule,’ and we give up on civilization. In doing so, we give up on the next generation and we give up on our children. This ‘giving up’ is the moment we chose to normalize the abnormal.
We are at moment of time when we have to choose to honor humanity or ignore humanity, theirs and our own.
The choices we make are not just legal. They are human. Our choices are existential. Our ability to choose our response is the one freedom we have and that none can take away from us.
This choice always traces back to ourselves.
First, our psychological make up displays our identity, our value system, our empathy, our courage and our very own humanity.
Second, our ability to see the larger whole based on history, science, and philosophy, too drive our choices.
When we unleash our humanity, our choices spring from our own wholeness. This wholeness appears when we align our heart, mind and soul.
Alignment is not a short journey. It is not effortless. But, it is possible.
Unleash Your Humanityconnects all the dots in a simple way. Not hypothesis. Not theories. It is based on real life. A life of experiences and observations that are universally applicable. Human beings from all walks of life can relate and identify.
Imagine living life without fear. A life where well-intended goals manifest both for others and for ourselves. Imagine to lead with moral clarity and empathy, and how this immediately changes the dynamics in an organization, a company, or even a nation. Imagine what is possible and then work for its realization. Because what the mind can conceive, we can achieve. Yes, it is possible.
We just need to make sure that our dreams, hopes, and ambitions are driven by the heart, and leave the strategy to the mind. Not the reverse.
It is possible. Unleash Your Humanityis a testimony to this truth.
